Big News for The Jeff Report, the Royalman Report, and Everyone Involved

It's official.  In partnering with the Kansas City Baseball Historical Society the Royalman Report crew is taking our show to the radio!  Together the KCBHS and RMR will bring you the 'Kansas City Baseball Vault,' a show focusing on the rich history of Kansas City baseball as well as keeping an eye towards the future and what baseball can become.  You can expect the same level of insight and quality you've come to know and love from the Royalman Report but with the extra power of an organization like the Kansas City Baseball Host and the extensive knowledge of co-host Jeff Logan.

We will have many guests of KC's baseball history as well as some current and hopefully future players.  The show will air for the rest of Royals season Thursday nights from 6-7 pm on ESPN 1510 am radio.  If you're a fan of baseball you should most definitely be tuning in starting with our first show on May 10th!

You can follow the happenings of the KC Baseball Vault on our facebook page here and our twitter page here.

Below is our official Press Release.  Please click on the picture to enlarge and read at your leisure.

NEW 610 Sports Post - Grading the Kansas City Chiefs Draft

Well the Chiefs have completed another draft and brought in a host of new players to hopefully help this team take the next team from middling/competitive to full on contender.  Whether or not they will actually help accomplish that remains to be seen.  Either way, conjecture is the name of the game with sports blogging and I have plenty of it when I give my grade of the recent Chiefs draft via 610sports.com.  Enjoy.

Rexed Out - Royals Fans Need to Relax

Photo - John Sleezer KC Star

The Royals marketing folks decided on “Our Time” as a slogan this year for a few reasons.  This was not to suggest an inevitability of winning after so many years of losing.  Rather, this was to signify the idea that a franchise that couldn’t get out of its on way for a nearly two decades has finally taken ownership of its situation.  The steps to turn this team into a winner have finally been taken.

It’s no mistake that the campaign consists of highlighting many of the young stars on this team.^  These young and talented players represent the changing of the guard.  They are the new faces that are helping to usher in a new era of Royals baseball.  “Our Time” signifies a new direction for the club and one that the fans can be proud of.  What happened in the past is the past but the future is bright here in Kansas City and that is the impetus behind that slogan.

^ Not that there are any old stars on this team with one of the youngest rosters in baseball, but you get my point.

New 610 Sports Post - Survive And Advance

The Kansas Jayhawks survived an onslaught of sharpshooting form Purdue led by Super Senior Robbie Hummel.  The Boilermakers came out throwing haymakers and the Jayhawks seemed lost.  This was exactly the type of game that KU had lost in the past but they reversed the script this time around.  "Survive and Advance" is the mantra, but this team has been living that in their careers ever since arriving at KU.  In my latest post for 610 Sports I look into each starter and how they embody the mantra of survive and advance.

My [FAKE] Interview with Scott Pioli

My frustration level with the Chiefs is at an all-time high.  I went through the atrocious 2-14 season in 2008 and was at every game.  I haven’t missed a regular season game in 3 years (before that I was out of town at college, so it wasn’t exactly feasible).  My dedication as a fan has never been questioned and I will always bleed red (you see what I did there?).  Even so, my displeasure with this organization has reached a higher point than ever before.

I believe the Chiefs know what they’re doing on some level.  I believe they can build an organization and do it the right way.  I do NOT believe they are in touch with their fan base, nor do they provide any transparency to fans who desperately crave it.  Such is the problem with this franchise right now.  Chiefs fans are probably more forgiving than many of the fanbases out there.^  The only thing fans of this team require would be information.  Simply explaining moves (or lack thereof) would seemingly go a long way towards smoothing things over with a very discontented group of fans.

^ After all, we did put up with 20 years of Carl Peterson

That being the case, I have decided to take matters into my own hands.  I have reached out to Scott Pioli (I haven’t really) and my request for an interview was granted (no request, and it wasn’t granted).  What follows is how Pioli (didn’t really) answer the questions I had for him.  I would like to thank Mr. Pioli for the time and being much more upfront with me than he has been with Chiefs fans in the past.

NEW 610 Post - Something Missing in the Manning Situation

Peyton Manning has visited Arizona, Denver, and is now scheduled to visit Tennessee, Miami, and possibly Houston.  With the exception of Houston, none of these are a better fit than Kansas City (some might be as good, but not better).  There has to be something missing on why Manning won't even talk to the Chiefs and I explore that in this post.

NEW 610 Post - Chiefs in Danger of Losing One of the Right 53

Well, the Chiefs signed Stanford Routt yesterday and all indications are that Brandon Carr will test the free agency waters and will most likely be on his way out.  In my latest post on 610sports.com I talk about why this isn't the best move for the Chiefs and that is want to change the perception of them here in KC, this is exactly the right place to start.
