Man Crush 2010 - Who's It Gonna Be This Year?

It's that time of year again, who will be my man crush for this football season? I have some good quality candidates this year and as last year I will come back every week with a man crush update.

Jacory Harris - Miami

My first candidate is grandfathered in from last year as he was the victor from my man crush competition in 2009. Candidate number is University of Miami (FL) quarterback, Jacory Harris. The Heisman campaign started early this year for Harris. His skill set remains the same as last year, good size, good mobility, strong arm, and smooth release. He and his receivers are one year older and one year more experienced, a big year is expected from Harris and the first game of the season showed why, although he had a very poor performance in game two this week against Ohio State.

Dennard Robinson - Michigan

My Next candidate may be my personal favorite up to this point. For the second year in a row a QB from Michigan makes the cut. Last year it was Tate Forcier, and this year it's the man who beat him out for the job, Denard Robinson. Robinson is an absolute machine who does nothing but go crazy on the field with ridiculous stats. Over 800 yards of total offense through 2 games making him one of the most productive players in the country. He is helped by the fact that Michigan runs my favorite offense in all of football, the spread option. It is the "updated for the 21st century" version of the triple option and I love it even more because it also incorporates the pass more. I always wondered by in a triple option you couldn't just have a QB who could pass moderately well. If the defense is kept guessing all night trying to figure out the option and then all of the sudden you pull back and throw that versatile of an offense would be lethal. That is what Rich Rodriguez tried to do in Michigan and I love (although ultimately I don't think he can win with it at Michigan).

Tyler Yates - UNC

My third man-crush candidate came from an unlikely source. I didn't expect for someone to jump into the man-crush race 2010 when I watched the LSU vs. UNC game opening weekend, but then I saw it. A beautiful 97-yard pass play by Tyler Yates, the UNC QB, and I was hooked. Yates went on to nearly lead his team to a comeback victory, falling just short as the clock hit triple zeroes. Even though he fell short he has continued to air it out and show off his good arm strength. He could end up being a decent 2-3 round prospect. We will see, either way, he's in the running.

Andrew Luck - Stanford

My next candidate is because of his possibility of being drafted by the Chiefs. A couple of weeks ago I would have thought the possibility was real good. However, after a couple of weeks his stock has risen and now I don't think he will be there, but a guy can dream can't he? Andrew Luck is my fourth candidate and he has the size and all the tools to be a top flight NFL QB. His stats won't jump out at you but that is more a product of his offense and coach. Fact of the matter is, The Jeff Report would run through a bee farm covered in honey if the Chiefs could land Andrew Luck.

  1. None are mancrush worthy.

Denard is a flash in the pan, and doesn't really even play QB. You can't call yourself a QB if your never required to make more than 1 progression.

JaCorey is all flash no substance....I think he just threw another interception.

Tyler Yates...I bet he is related to that Andrea Yates lady that drowned all her kids. I guess he would have to be a nephew or something though. Plus I assume he drives a lexus and has constant agent contact, the UNC way.

Andrew Luck - His last name is terrible. Plus he plays in a far off time zone against crappy, big play allowing, Pac-10 defenses.
