NFL Lockdown – Week 9 With X-Girl Lauren from Edgehogs.com

Editors note: For those of you who are unfamiliar with Edgehogs and the X-Girls, check out my original Edgehog/X-girl post here

Last week I narrowly defeated X-Girl Meridith with my picks (click the link to see our results).  She was a formidable opponent, but the Jeff Report was able to hold her off.  This week, X-Girl Lauren will step up to the plate and see if she can out pick me.

A little bit about my opponent this week, X-Girl Lauren:

Lauren grew up in El Dorado Hills, CA, which is a town about 30 miles east of Sacramento.  She enjoys hanging out with friends, playing any kind of sport, going to the beach (that must be nice, not too many beaches here in KC), and her personal favorite: eating.  Lauren was on a state championship winning basketball team in her high school years (something I have in common with her from my state champion lacrosse days in HS).  Needless to say, it sounds like I will be up against someone who, yet again, knows their sports very well.

Currently, Lauren holds a 206-90 record on the season with her NFL picks.  If that wasn’t impressive enough then she has an ‘X-Rating’ of 99.5.  She will be some solid competition for the Jeff Report.  Here is how our picks compare:

Last Week (The Jeff Report): 9-4
Season (The Jeff Report): 9-4
Last Week (X-Girl Meridith): 8-5
Season (X-Girls): 8-5

Here are my results from last week against the spread and my picks for this week as well:

Last Week:  8-5
Season:  39-27-2

Atlanta (-7) @ Indianapolis (+7) - Atlanta.  Indy will continue to struggle.  I legitimately think they won’t win a game this year.

Tampa Bay (+8.5) @ New Orleans (-8.5) – Tampa Bay.  I know NO dropped 62 on Indy a couple weeks back, but they also lost to STL last week by 10.  Until they show a little more consistency I won’t be picking them to win by 9+ against a division opponent.

Cleveland (+10.5) @Houston (-10.5) – Houston.  I told you, I’m done with you Cleveland.  I will all your stuff in a box outside my door.  Please make sure I’m not home when you come pick it up.

New York Jets (+2) @ Buffalo (-2) – Buffalo.  I’m riding the Buffalo train.  And I just had Buffalo wings for lunch, so I’m probably blinded by the sauce, but the point stands, the Bills are a legit team.

Miami (+4) @ Kansas City (-4) – Dolphins.  This one was tough.  I think the Chiefs will pull out a win but a 4 point spread is a little much.  I think Dolphins are going to cover this spread.  They may look like the ugly girl at the party, but when you break down their stats, you might find yourself saying “you know what? She’s cool, and fun to hang out with, looks are not that important.

San Francisco (-3.5) @ Washington (+3.5) – San Francisco.  Washington has been exposed and Shanahan has mailed it in this year.  He needs to be fired.  And around and around we go.  Such is the days of our lives, starring Daniel Snyder as Stefano (props to you if you caught the reference).

NFL Lockdown Lock of the Week - Seattle (+11.5) @ Dallas (-11.5) – Dallas.  With the exception of last week Dallas has not had a blowout loss and all their losses are to legit top 10 teams in the league.  Seattle will be a good chance for them to wake up and for Tony Romo to finally shake off the rust, you know, now that he knows Jessica Simpson’s baby isn’t his, or Justin Biebers.

Denver (+7.5) @ Oakland (-7.5) – Denver.  I hate the Broncos and am not a fan of Tim Tebow but there is something about the rivalry between these two that for one reason or another they usually play each other tight no matter how good or bad each one is.

Cincinnati (+3) @ Tennessee (-3) – Cincinnati.  Tennessee has also been exposed as a poser.  They are an 8-8 team at best and the Bengals have a top 5 defense.

St. Louis (+2) @ Arizona (-2) – Arizona.  This is a total lack of respect to Arizona.  I know they haven’t played great all season, but STL is awful and without their starting QB.  Larry Fitzgerald should be able to eat up this secondary and Kevin Kolb needs to set it on fire.  No reason STL should win this game, even if they did just come off a victory against the Saints.

New York (+9) @ New England (-9) – New York.  The Giants are overrated but I still they are good enough to not get beat by the Pats by 10+ points.

Green Bay (-5.5) @ San Diego (+5.5) – Green Bay.  I don’t care if it is in San Diego.  The Whale’s Vagina Chargers are going to get toasted up and down the field by the best and most complete team in the league.  I remember when I used to watch wresting in grade school and one of the wrestlers thought they could box ButterBean and hold him off.  Well ButterBean had about 100lbs on the guy and smoked inside of a minute.  Yeah, that situation = this situation.  The Chargers think they can hang but they will find out what a real football team looks like.

Baltimore (+3) @ Pittsburgh (-3) – Pittsburgh.  This one is tough.  I think Pitt is the better team but you never know when this matchup occurs.  It’s going to be close and it might actually be 3 points, but if it’s not I think the scales tip in Pittsburgh’s favor.

Chicago (+7.5) @ Philadelphia (-7.5) – Chicago.  I think the Eagles may have found their stride but I think the Bears can hang around within a touchdown on this team.  The Eagles may be better than their 1-4 start, but they are still struggling to find consistency.
