Random Thoughts

So I will propose a random thought to all my loyal readers.  The other day I was watching the Royals play (I know, I can't believe it either) and they were playing in the Metrodome in Minnesota.  Now, the Twins' shortstop made a very good play on a high chopping grounder, to which the announcer said he could make the play because the ball had a "natural" bounce off of the artificial turf.

Now, by making this statement the announcer is assuming that the ball would bounce as it would on a "natural" surface and how you would expect, as the surface they were playing on was man made and therefore more representative of what would be a "natural" playing field.

So here is my thought, if a player was playing on a natural surface and it would be commonplace to not expect a "natural" bounce, then wouldn't this "un-natural" bounce therfore become what we would expect and hence consider "natural?"  This would then mean the announcer during this game misspoke by saying the ball took a "natural" bounce when it actually took an "un-natural" bounce as it was not what the player expected by bouncing true.

My suggestion would be to say that the ball bounced "true" off of the turf, and this would eliminate any confusion.  But what do I know...?

Is my thinking correct here?
