World Cup - USA ties England 1-1

Well the first game for the 2010 World Cup is in the books and the Americans have surprised many by ending it in a 1-1 tie. Pretty much nobody gave the US a chance, especially after falling behind 1-0 in the fourth minute. It looked like it might make for a long day for the US. However, they were able to regroup, get a gift of a goal and surprise the world. Many of you probably don't realize but do to my many years of playing FIFA soccer on my playstation I am a bit of a soccer expert. As I have never been one to keep my expertise all to myself i will give my expert thoughts on the game.

First of all, the defense played great, mainly Demerits ability to hold international superstar Wayne Rooney in check the entire game. Rooney didn't get a touch till the 17th minute and didn't get a shot on goal until the 72nd. This is the kind of solid D USA will have to play if if wants go make some noise. Not only did Demerit do well but Oguchi Onyewu showed why he is so valuable as he played amazing.

Cherundolo also played great as he was everywhere showing up on offense and in the midfield. Tim Howard was phenomenal in the net and as a leader of the defense.

I was also very impressed with Bobby findley as he showed great speed played very well under the pressure of his first world cup match. Him and akticore together really provided a team speed element that will come in handy as the tourney rolls on.

All in all the best part about the game was that the US didnt crumble under the pressure and showed that they can play well as a team and that allows them to compete with anybody in the world. I am excited to see what happens the rest of the way.
