From the Mount - Upset Special - KU over GT

KU Pulls Huge Upset Over Georgia Tech, 28-25

I have been busy the last couple of days and with the monumental Monday Night Football game for the Chiefs, the KU game kind of got put on the back burner, but make no mistake this was a HUGE win for KU football. could the NDSU loss be a defining “loss” for the program, can you have a defining “loss”?  I think you can, if you lose a game like KU did in Week 1 you become the underdog the rest of the way and you can possibly ride that all the way to some success.  I agree with Bob Fescoe: “Between KU, KSU and MU nobody will have a bigger win all season than KU over GT”

The program that was left dead after losing the first game of the season in putrid fashion 6-3 to North Dakota State University (hey, they’re…they’re a pretty good program…) came out gangbusters against #15 ranked Georgia Tech and upended their system nearly as soon as it had begun. Tech is not what they were last year (ACC champs) but they are a solid D1 football team nonetheless. Much better than NDSU no matter which way you slice it. And KU came out and took it to them. I didn’t watch the game as I was driving but I saw some highlights and was getting updates on my phone. This game was just what KU needed.

They came out ready to play looked well coached and they were the better team. Jordan Webb was the right decision at QB as he played well throwing for 3 TD’s and everything went right for the team all day long. GT’s triple option attack was stifled and they couldn’t get done what they needed to get done to win the game.  In th eprocess they discovered that Jordan Webb really could be the answer at QB going forward, Daymond Patterson will be a playmaker and make things happen on offense, and they may have found their running back in Feshman James Sims.

Now, all that being said, just as I said last week that KU fans should ease up on the gas after the horrific loss, people should keep in mind to not take this win too much to heart either. Yeah Georgia Tech won the ACC last year but they lost a lot of talent and are a depleted team at this point. They are no North Dakota St. but they aren’t Alabama either. This win does not mean KU is gonna challenge for the North title, but it does mean they are who we thought they were, a 4-6 win team who is (hopefully) building for the future.
